Part ten:

Nick and Jeff picked up Mich and Lindsey at their apartment at precisely 4:01 p.m. Sunday afternoon. They took one look at the girls and sent them back up stairs.
"We said we were going out for supper," Jeff said. "Doesn't that mean anything to you?"
"Ya," Mich returned, running up the stairs. "Taco Bell. No quiero(sp) Taco Bell," she said in a low voice, mimicking the dog. Lindsey and Mich laughed. When they came down, both guys were sitting down in chairs, looking tired. They had enough energy to whistle when the girls walked downstairs in dresses. "Feel privileged," Mich called, "this will be the one and only time you ever see Linds in a dress."
"Aww," Nick whined. "Why?" Lindsey just blushed. She smiled and motioned for her to walk over to him. She obeyed. "How good are you at back massages?" he asked, already placing her hands on his shoulders. "'Cause my shoulders hurt."
"Not very good," Lindsey admitted, but began to massage his back anyway. Soon, Nick let out a groan. Lindsey stopped, thinking she'd hurt him.
"No, don't stop, you're good." He put her hands back on his shoulders.
"We should get going," Jeff told him.
"But," Nick wined. "My shoulders."
"Your shoulders can wait," Jeff told him. "Remember, the IMPORTANT NEWS?"
"Oh ya, the important news," Nick muttered. He stood up and grabbed Lindsey's hand. "Let's go."
"Where're we going?" Mich asked.
"It's a surprise," Jeff told her with a grin. Lindsey and Nick sneered in unison. The four of them left immediately, and ended up at a restaurant. They were quickly seated.
"This is nice," Mich commented. "I've never been in here before, too expensive. So, what's this IMPORTANT NEWS you keep mentioning?"
"Well," Nick began, suddenly not knowing what to say. The two guys had talked it over for three hours, and they had thought that they had it down, exactly how they were going to break the news that they had to leave tonight to the girls.
"We're leaving the state in five hours," Jeff told her bluntly.
"Man, we knew that," Mich told him. "You could have told us that back at the apartment and saved yourselves the fifty dollar meal. Well, fifty for me anyway. I'm suddenly hungry for, oh, Peking duck? That sounds good."
"And for dessert?" Nick asked with a laugh.
"Ummm, everything with Chocolate in it," Mich told them.
"And what are you gonna have?" Jeff asked Lindsey.
"Umm, Cheeseburger and fries," Lindsey told him, closing her menu.
"They have them here?" Jeff asked, flipping through his menu. When he found it, he laughed.
"Anything else?" Nick asked her surprised.
"Can I have a milkshake?" she asked hesitantly. Nick laughed.
"You can have anything you want," Nick told her with a sweet smile.
"That's not fair," Jeff complained. "My date orders Peking duck and 3/4 of the dessert menu, and your's gets a hamburg and milkshake."
"What can I say? I have expensive tastes," Mich said, at the same time that Lindsey was nodding her head.
"Sounds about right," Lindsey commented.
"Okay, back to business," Jeff insisted. "We were thinking, and all of the guys agreed it was a good idea, that you two should join us on the road." The girls looked at them in shock.
"W-what?" Mich managed. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. The guys wanted them to.. go on the road with them? No way. "But, I have a job."
"That's okay," Jeff told her. "We won't be bringing you on tour for another two weeks when we swing past here again. You can give your 2 weeks tomorrow, and be done by the time we pick you up."
"And it won't be all fun and games, you'll have to have a job," Nick told her. "We can find one for you guys, and if not, we'll make one up for you."
"Can you do that?" Lindsey asked, unsure of her boyfriend's clout.
"Hey, I can do anything," Nick told her, smiling confidently. "Anyway, it won't be all fun, like I was saying, but you will get paid well."
"We're getting paid?" Mich nearly screeched. Jeff was taken aback.
"Ya, we have to. And you won't have to worry about our relationships getting in the way, because, hey, we can't fire you." Mich and Lindsey looked confused, but neither man expanded on the comment. The waiter had come to take their order.
"What would we do?" Lindsey asked, picking up the conversation again.
"We were going to get to that," Jeff said with a bit of an embarrassed smile. Nick laughed before adding to Jeff's sentence.
"This is good," he told Mich and Lindsey. "Drew came up with this one. He thinks that since Mich was so good at pointing out what was so horribly wrong with Jeff's outfit the other day," Mich smiled sweetly at Jeff, who smiled back, still embarrassed, "that Mich should be like a wardrobe person."
"Hmmm, not bad. Hey, do you have a choreographer? I'm really good at that."
"Sorry, Mich, we have one of those," Nick told her. 'Nick? Sorry?' Mich thought for a second, then shook her head and listened to the convo.
"Ya, her name is Valerie. You'll meet her when we pick you up," Jeff added. "You guys'll really like her."
"Isn't she the one that Justin likes?" Lindsey asked.
"Likes? More like obsesses over day and night," Nick informed.
"Okay, now back to me," Mich said, drawing the attention to her. "Wardrobe, hmm? How about..fashion consultant! Ya, I like that. Can that be my title?" Mich asked eagerly. Jeff and Nick both laughed before agreeing. "What about Linds?" Mich asked, finally letting some of the spotlight leave her.
"We haven't quite decided yet," Jeff admitted.
"Hey, how about a masseuse?" Nick exclaimed. Lindsey looked wary. "You're really good at it," he told her, encouragingly. "She is," he told Jeff.
"Hey, did I say I didn't believe you?" Jeff asked with a laugh, putting his open palms toward Nick in defense.
"She's not bad," Mich agreed. "Ya, I think that would be a good job for her. It'll help her get over her fear of intimacy."
"Pardon?" Lindsey asked.
"Well, that's one way of putting it," Jeff mumbled.
"Oh, come on. Every time someone takes their shirt off in front of you, you'll freak. This way, you'll be forced to get used to it," Mich pointed out.
"There, it's settled," Nick said quickly, not allowing Lindsey to be talked out of it. "Oh, good, dinner." Everything was set.
