Chapter 19

"What?" Brent asked with a laugh. Oh, come on. I'm just messing around. Hey, Angel, you wanna see something?" She tilted her head at him, telling him she wasn't amused with the way he was acting. Brent pulled himself up from the pool, completely dry, then gingerly stepped onto the surface of the pool. He didn't sink, he just appeared to walk over top of it. "Haha, He ain't the only one who can do it, eh?" Angel pursed her lips.
"I don't think He would appreciate you mocking him like that," Angel told him. She sighed and looked away. "Pay attention, will you."
"I don't see the problem, they're gonna be covered by the water," Brent told her.
"I don't see the problem," Ali echoed. "We're gonna be covered by the water."
"See?" Brent laughed.
"It's just a dare. Look, I'll go first if it'll make you feel better." Ali waded out to the deep end of the pool.
"I don't think I can watch," D commented.
"Ali, come back," Joey called. She ignored him. She looked over her shoulder, then made a couple movements under the water. A minute later, she produced a bathing suit. Everyone cheered, and Ali looked back over her shoulder with a smile. Well, everybody except for Lance and Joey that is. She quickly shimmied back into her swim suit and swam back to the shallow end.
"Your turn," she told Lance with a smile. Lance shook his head.
"No way, I ain't doin that," Lance told them.
"Oh, come on, Lance," Meagan prodded.
"Ya, I did it," Ali added.
"It's just a dare, it's not like we're gonna tell anybody," Britney added.
"It's just us," Justin and JC pointed out at the same time.
"NO!!" Lance screamed. "I WON'T GIVE INTO PEER PRESSURE!!!!!! YOU CAN'T MAKE ME!!" He ran from the pool and covered his ears. "LALALAAALAALAALALLALALALALALAAAAAAAAAA" Lance sang while running. They just stared at him while he ran away from them.
"IIIIII-think I'll go after him," Meagan finally commented.
"Whoa, spaz attack," D said, keeping her laughter inside. Chris didn't bother, he suddenly burst out laughing and didn't stop for a full minute. "Oooook-ay," D said and turned away.
"Who's gonna go then?" Ali asked out of the blue.
"What are you talking about?" Joey asked.
"The truth or dare game," Ali reminded.
"Oh, can't we just drop that?" Joey pleaded. "You guys have just traumatized poor Lance, and you want to continue this dumb game?"
"Yes," Britney, Ali, Rae, and Jen chorused.
"Who does go?" Jen asked. "I mean, Lance just went psycho on us, and he's the one that was supposed to go, so who's turn it is?"
"PUH-LEASE!" JC begged. "Can't we stop the madness?"
"Oh, just once more," Britney asked him. "We have the perfect one."
"Ya," Jen, Rae, and Ali added in unison. Angel looked over at Brent who up until this moment had been completely silent. He had a humongous grin on his face.
"Brent, what are you up to?" Angel inquired.
"Who said I was up to anything?" said Brent innocently.
"I did. You are the only one that could have done this."
"What, did you guy conference when I was away?" D inquired. They stared at her blankly. D had a sudden feeling of impending doom. "Ya, maybe we should quit," D suggested.
"Yes," the guys all said.
"No!" all of the girls shouted.
"Umm, just this last one," Rae promised, looking pitiful for D's benefit.
"Okay," D agreed, unsure of this.
"Good. Um, how about I go," Rae said. The girls all nodded. "D." Randi groaned in response.
"What," she said, as if she hadn't been there the past ten-twenty minutes.
"Truth, dare, double dare?" 'Well,' D thought to herself. 'Should I just screw up their plans? Or should I be nice?----Nice,' she decided reluctantly.
"Might as well get it over with," Chris told her when she wasn't answering. D nodded.
"Dare," she told Rae unenthusiastically. Rae seemed happy with this, as did the rest.
"I dare you, to kiss Chris," Rae told her in a cute little overly happy voice.
"Are you on drugs?" D asked bluntly.
"No, what would make you say that?" Rae squeaked. D shook her head, then looked questioningly at Chris.
"What are you making them do??" Angel demanded of Brent.
"Who?" Brent asked innocently.
"Those girls!" Angel exclaimed. "They don't want to see your sister and some guy make out!"
"Well, they think they do," Brent told her. "Is that any consolation."
"With tongue!" Jen suddenly added.
"You are a disgusting person, you know that?" Angel told him.
"Fine," sighed Brent.
"Or, not," Britney said in response. "But at least open-mouthed."
"I can't believe you," said Angel with a shake of her head. "And especially that you are doing this to your sister. I thought you were better than that." There was a poof sound, and she was gone.
"Oh, Angel!" Brent called into the air. He felt a brief flash of aloneness, then it was gone and he turned back to view his work, rubbing his hands together.
"What?" D asked, almost sounding disgusted.
"That's my sister," sighed Brent.
"Oh, God," JC commented. "Can I leave for this?"
"Can I leave for this?" asked D.
"No!" the girls shouted at D.
"If you guys want to leave, you can," Ali told them.
"EXCEPT FOR CHRIS!" Britney shouted, as she saw D try and nudge Chris toward the edge of the pool. Everyone else left.
"Now, you have no excuses," Jen told D. "You have to do it."
"Why?" D asked.
"Because I said so!" Brent shouted from the side lines.
"Shut up," D yelled behind her.
"What?" Chris asked with a confused look on his face.
"Who was that?" D asked softly.
"What was what?" Britney asked.
"Oh, I thought I heard someone say 'because I said so,'" D told them. "I thought it came from behind the fence." Brent's eyes widened. He lost his grip on the edge and fell over backward. D's eyes flew back over just as Brent made impact with the ground. "Oh well."
"Well, come on!" Rae exclaimed excitedly. D looked up at Chris again.
"Are you sure about this?" she mumbled to him. He smiled comfortingly and nodded. He put his hands around her neck and pulled her toward him, placing his lips over hers. Suddenly, it was as if all of the girls had spontaneously changed their minds.
"Why are we doing this?" Britney asked, seeing Randi and Chris kissing.
"I don't quite know the answer to that one," Rae told her.
"Okay, that's enough now," Jen called. Chris and Randi didn't seem to hear.
"Let's just go," Ali said with a shake of her head. All of the girls turned and left the pool.

Chapter 20

The group quickly separated into small groups of two. Nate and Rae walked to the back of the house.
"I'm going to miss you when this day is over," Nate told her, sadly.
"I'll come and visit you," Rae told him with a slight laugh. "We can go to lunch together next Friday. Sound good?" Nate smiled.
"Ya, I never even thought of that. It sounds good to me. When do you want me to pick you up?"
"How about we talk about that later," Rae suggested with a smile.
"Okay, what would you like to talk about now?" Nate asked.
"Let's not talk." She leaned up and kissed him on the lips.

Britney and JC were not having as much luck. Both had day planners out and were busily rearranging schedules.
"Friday, the fifteenth," Britney suggested, hopefully.
"Sorry, can't," JC said regretful. "We're in Hong Kong. How about the twentieth. We're back in Canada." Britney shook her head.
"I have an exam that day. Twenty first?"
"Leave for the states at five in the morning." He slammed closed his day book. "Britney, I can't have this kind of relationship where I have to plan every move. I'll go nuts."
"I know, so will I," Britney, admitted.
"But, I'll also go nuts if I never see you," JC added with a small groan.
"So will I," Britney whispered. "What are we going to do?"
"I guess we'll just have to live on phone calls and letters for the time being," JC told her. "I'll call you as often as I can, I promise."
"I guess it will have to do," Britney agreed with a sigh. "Maybe we can go out for supper after my exam or something."
"That would be nice," JC said with a smile. "I'll miss you."
"I'll miss you, too," Britney said, reaching her face up closer to his. He rubbed his nose against hers before capturing her mouth.

Jen and Justin, well, they had skipped the scheduling step, and they had gone right to the kissing part. I'd tell you more, but I'm not a detail person. Especially when it comes to that stuff! Ewie.

Chapter 21

Meagan, and Lance. They were...ummm...., well, you know what Jen and Justin were doing? These guys were being worse. They were...I don't want to discuss it, but they had done some planning as to when they were going to see each other again. The convo went something like: "So, when am I gonna see you again?" Lance mumbled, in between kissing her ears and neck.
"Well, that depends on you," Meagan told him.
"How do you figure that?" Lance inquired, still kissing her neck. (blech)
"Well, you ARE the one that is constantly moving around, so you have to decide when you are going to see me again."
"Okay, makes sense," Lance conceded with a shrug. Then, of course, they went back to the stuff we'd rather not mention. :)

Ali and ... Joey, oh ya! sorry, lapsed there a minute. They were, ummmmmmm, dying Joey's hair, ya that't it! They were up in the upstairs bathroom, dying Joey's hair.....Red and Blue! (superman colors!)
"Are ya sure you want to do this?" Ali asked, applying more red dye in his hair. "Hold still!"
"Ya, don't you think it will be cool?" Joey asked.
"Sure, sweety," Ali replied, rolling her eyes.
"Awww, thanks," Joey said with a smile.
"What?" Ali asked, not understanding.
"You called me sweety. You must really like me."
"Of course I do," Ali commented. "I just don't see why you're dying your hair red and blue."
"It's a fashion statement," Joey explained. "Besides, you're just jealous."
"Of you and your purple hair?" Ali asked. "Not on your life."
"Hey, it's red and blue, not purple," Joey informed.
"Well," Ali said with a regretful look on her face. "Not anymore it ain't." Joey looked into the mirror, and began to cry. "I told ya to hold still," Ali warned.

Chapter 22

"Chris, get off me," D said with a laugh. Chris whined. D raised an eyebrow.
"But, mmmmbut mmmbut!" Chris began to whine again. D just ignored him.
"I'm goin in," D commented, heading up the stairs.
"Ahhh, ya wussy," Brent called from the sidelines. D whipped around.
"What did you just call me?" D demanded. Chris looked shocked.
"I-I didn't say anything," Chris stuttered in response. She looked him in the eye, not sure whether to believe him or not.
"I called you a WUSSY!!!" Brent shouted at his older sister. A shiver went up D's back, hearing a voice, but not seeing Chris' lips move to match the words. She looked up onto the fence, and could almost swear she saw the outline of a person sitting on it.
"Oh no," she whispered. She ran out of the pool, and into the yard, Chris not far behind. When he reached her, she was already in tears. "This is not happening," D mumbled, pacing. "I can't be seeing him. They promised me it wasn't real. OMG, what is happening?" Chris tried to stop her pacing, but only slowed her for a minute.
"Baby, what's wrong?" Chris half whispered. She stopped, looking him straight in the eye, and took a rough breath.
"I'm losing it," she told him honestly. "I'm going nuts."
"No, you're not," Chris told her, trying to convince both of them. She certainly didn't seem sane right then.
"Chris, I just saw my dead brother sitting on my fence," she exclaimed, becoming distraught. "You call that normal? I sure as hell don't." Brent heard this and jumped off the fence, walking over to her. He looked at her concerned.
"Oh, D," Brent sighed. "What is going on inside that head of yours. You're not supposed to see me." A tear slipped down his own cheek.
"But I do," D whispered back to him. Brent's heart fell to his feet. He hated to see his sister in so much pain, but he didn't know how to stop it.
"I'm so sorry."
"I know." A small smile crossed her lips.
"Who're you talking to?" Chris asked. D looked up at him.
"Hmm? No one," she said.
"You were talking to someone," Chris told her. "I HEARD you talking to someone. Who was it, Brent?"
"Leave me alone!" D suddenly shouted then ran away from him. Chris tried to run after him, but she somehow managed to lose him. He gave up after a minute, and went into the house.

Chris was surprised to find that everyone was inside already.
"Wow," Chris joked. "And it's not even raining." They looked at him, not catching his train of thought. He just shrugged, signaling he wasn't in the mood to explain.
"Hey, where's D?" Meagan asked casually, not actually concerned, just wondering. Chris shrugged in response. Rae and Britney glanced quickly at each other. There was a splash from outside.
"There ya go," Chris told her. "She's out for a swim." He felt something intensely cold pass over his shoulder. He shivered. Suddenly, the thought popped into his head that maybe he should go check on D in the pool. He found himself agreeing with this thought, then felt something pulling him from behind. It was unmistakable feeling, he was positive he felt it, but when he looked behind himself, no one was there to pull him. "Brent?" he whispered.
"Yes," came the distinctive response, although it too was only a whisper. Chris looked around to see if anybody else had heard the voice. No one showed signs of it. "Help her," he heard the whisperer speak again. A feeling of dread over took Chris, and he began to walk back toward the front door.
"Is everything alright, Chris?" Rae asked. Chris looked back at her, and he felt another tug.
"Ya, I'm just gonna go check on D," Chris responded, then followed the tug.
"Is it just me, or is he acting weird?" Joey inquired, as Chris closed the door behind him.
"It's definitely just you," Ali told him, then smiled at him. He smiled back at her, then planted a kiss on her lips.
"You know, I think I could get used to this," he told her, running his hand through his newly purple hair. Jen looked over at Britney and Rae, who both had strange expressions on their faces, a mixture of awe and horror.
"Are you two okay?" Jen inquired. They nodded, but neither spoke. Rae gasped, and a tear slipped down her cheek. "OMG, Rae, tell me what's wrong!" Jen demanded, seeing the tears.
"No," Rae breathed, as if not hearing her. "Not again." Her hand went for the phone, and Jen watched as her fingers dialed 911.
"What not again?" Jen asked, becoming frustrated. "What's going on with you two. Rae, why are you calling 911?"
"SOMEBODY CALL AN AMBULANCE!!!" Chris yelled. "OMG, NOW. GODDAMMIT, DON'T DO THIS. SOMEONE GET OUT HERE!!!!"

Chapter 23

After running from Chris, Randi had just walked for a few minutes, wondering to herself just how the hell her life was getting so rapidly screwed up. The day had seemed to be going so well. She'd met Chris, he was wonderful, and she really liked him. He seemed to like her as well. And then, bam, she was getting flashbacks, something she hadn't told anyone yet. She'd been getting flashbacks of the day Brent had drown since she went nuts on the guys for dunking Chris. Not only that, though, she was seeing her brother everywhere, hearing his voice, as well as talking like a nutcase. She was certain she was losing a piece of her sanity. She wandered around, doing her best to navigate through her tears, all the time, feeling her brother walking along side her. She soon discovered she had reached the pool. She stood on the diving board and looked down into the water, still remembering bringing the limp body of her brother up from the bottom of the pool. She felt like she would collapse from the weight, it felt so real. She heard a whisper of something behind her, and thinking it was Brent trying to say something to her, she turned. She had been wondering why Brent had suddenly stopped 'speaking.' She looked up, just in time to see something big and black coming straight for her face. The next thing she knew, she was falling backward off the diving board and into the water below.
"RANDI!" she heard a piercing shout. She recognized it as Brent. She forced herself not to scream, knowing that if she did she would only end up inhaling water, and she knew from experience, that was not a pleasant feeling. She felt the water surround her body, then something strike her head sharply. Her last conscious thought was that she felt Brent leaving her. Then everything was black.
Chapter 24

Brent flew into the house when he realized D wasn't about to bring herself back up. He was so worried about his sister, he wasn't able to concentrate on getting Chris' attention. He shouted in Chris' ear and pushed at him with no effect. Finally, he stopped himself and concentrated, then put his hand on Chris' shoulder. The man shivered, and Brent planted the thought in his head that he should go check his girlfriend in the pool. When he was sure Chris was going to, he gave him a tug. Chris looked around wildly, then said his name.
"Yes!" Brent exclaimed, getting frustrated. Every moment his sister was under that water was a moment too long. He quickly calmed himself, knowing this wasn't helping his sister. He breathed in, concentrated, and said, "yes," a little more clearly and distinct, to Chris at least. He waited a moment, wiping a tear from his eye, and added, "help her." Chris walked toward the door finally. When he stopped for a moment, Brent gave him another quick prod. When he was fully out the door, Brent moved hurriedly to Rae. He looked her right in the eye and said her name. He knew Rae was forcing herself to look away from him. "Rae, I know you can see me." She blinked, then looked at him. She looked afraid.
"What are you looking at?" Britney asked her.
"Rae, this is really important, so listen to me," Brent began. Rae looked away from him.
"Nothing," Rae told the younger girl.
"RAE LISTEN TO ME GODDAMMIT!!" Brent screamed. Rae winced visibly. She looked at him.
"Did you see that?" Britney breathed, finally seeing Brent in front of them.
"I know, that the last time you saw me, something bad had happened, and I am sorry that I have to keep popping up at such bad times," Brent apologized.
"What's he talking about?" Britney whispered. Jen chose that time to walk up asking if the two were okay. Both nodded.
"I hate having to put you through this twice, but I need you to pick up the phone and dial 911 for me. Rae, D is back at the bottom of that pool." Rae gasp and began to cry.
"No," Rae breathed. "Not again."
"NO," Brent said quickly. "It's not what you think. She was just standing on the diving board and some big bird suddenly swooped out of the air and hit her in the head. The force made her fall back into the pool. Rae, you have to call! I think she's unconscious." Rae picked up the phone, not even looking at it, and dialed 911. Chris' sudden screams pierced the air and Brent went to his sister. The minute conversation seemed to take years. He watched Chris dive into the pool.

So many things ran through Chris' mind as he swam to the bottom of the pool to save Brent's sister. What would he do if he didn't get to her on time? He was thankful for the water around him, as his tears mixed in with it, and it cooled his suddenly heated face. It seemed to be taking forever to get to her. He'd spotted her immediately, but it felt as if something was holding him back. He kicked harder, praying that God would let her live. 'I can't lose her now,' he thought frantically. 'I just found her.' It felt as if his heart was being ripped in half. Finally, he reached her. He wrapped his arms around her waist and shot up to the surface. He swam over to the side where JC and Joey were waiting to pull Randi up onto the deck. They lie her on her back while Chris hauled himself up out out the pool and moved around to her side.
"MOVE DAMMIT!" Chris ordered. JC and Joey moved aside, shocked at Chris' behaviour. He quickly went through the movements of AR, trying to save her.
Randi floated pleasantly, eyes closed, enjoying the feeling like in a nice sleep, or just floating in her pool. She didn't want to ever wake up, but she heard her name being called. She slowly opened her eyes and looked at the 16 year old standing above her. She winced as the sun shone down into her face. She looked the boy over carefully. He looked so familiar. He had her mothers clear blue eyes, unlike her's and her father, who both had deep brown eyes. He also had spiked brown hair the same shade as hers. Her eyes widened in recognition.
"Brent!" Randi exclaimed, flinging her arms around his neck. He didn't seem as happy to see her.
"Randi," he said, his voice quivering slightly.
"Oh God, I must be dreaming," D exclaimed happily. "I've missed you so much little bro. I'm so happy to see you again."
"D, you're not dreaming," he told her, the quiver growing. She looked at him, confused. "You have to go back."
"Go back where?" D questioned. She smiled at him, so happy to see him. She didn't want to leave him. A tear trickled down his cheek.
"Oh, God, make her go back!" Brent pleaded to some unseen force. "D, please, you have to go back, before it's too late!" His voice caught in his throat, and was only a whisper now. "Please," he begged.

The paramedics and ambulance had arrived by this time, and the paramedics were still performing AR on her. Chris didn't like the blue tinge creeping into her lips. He bit his nails, and paced constantly. The paramedics talked between themselves continually, mumbling most everything they said so no one knew what was going on.
"I can't get a pulse," one of the men suddenly said. Chris felt his heart stop along with hers.
"Begin CPR," the other responded. Chris took in a deep breath and held it as he watched the men perform CPR. 'Please God, I am begging you. Don't let her die. I love her. I swear if she lives I will never let her be in pain ever again.' Tears fell from his eyes, on to the ground.
"Still no pulse," the first paramedic shouted across D's lifeless body. Something inside Chris snapped.
"Wake up!" he shouted at her, bending down at her head. "Dammit, D, WAKE UP!!!!"
Chapter 25

She came to Brent and put her arms around him.
"I love you, Brent, I don't want to leave you," Randi told him. A stricken look crossed his face. "But, if it means that much to you, I will leave." Brent cried openly, hugging his sister with all his might. "I'll see you again," she promised him.
"I love you, D," Brent insisted. "You were the best big sister in the world. Please stop blaming yourself. There was nothing you could do. I never blamed you. I just had to let you know." D smiled, crying herself now.
"You don't know how much that means to me," she told him, her breath catching.
"Yes, I do," Brent said. He gave a small laugh. "Now go, before that head case of yours, Chris, has an aneurism or something." D smiled slightly, then nodded. She heard another voice calling her name, and she focused on it, watching Brent fade away. "Be happy for me," she heard him whisper as he disappeared.

"We have a pulse," the paramedic announced. Chris gave a little hoot of happiness, and broke away from Justin, who'd had to restrain him when he'd went a little nuts. He went to kneel at her head. Randi's eyes suddenly flew open, and she gasped for air desperately. The paramedics pulled away, and rolled her onto her side seconds before she vomited. When she'd finally quit coughing and bringing the water up from her lungs, she began to breathe normally again. Chris quickly dried his eyes and smiled down at her. He stroked her hair back from her forehead.
"You'll have to move back, sir," the paramedic told him for the second time that hour. Chris moved back willingly this time. The men put her on a stretcher before wheeling her to the waiting ambulance. They told the group that they still had to take her to the hospital to make sure everything was alright with her. They agreed to allow Chris to come with her in the ambulance, but only if he agreed to stay calm. Chris smiled slightly and nodded before climbing in behind the paramedics.
"You gave me quite a scare," Chris told D. She smiled.
"Brent thought you were going to have an aneurism," D told him. Chris gave a shaky laugh. She looked up at his red rimmed eyes, and watched as one last tear fell from them. "Are you alright?" she asked. She reached up and wiped it away gently.
"I am now," he whispered, taking her hand in his and kissing it.

Back at the house, the guys and girls were getting ready to go to the hospital. Every one of them felt drained emotionally at what had just happened. Rae and Britney had taken the liberty of phoning D's parents, and finding her sister. All said they would be there as soon as they could. They all took turns getting dressed in the bathroom, then piled into the bus. Most of the girls fell asleep on the way there, leaning against their boyfriends, who'd also passed out. JC, Britney, and Justin, all sat in the front; Justin drove, and Britney sat on JC's lap. On the way there, Britney ended up quietly relating D's past to them. She couldn't help it, she had to get it off her chest after everything that had happened. Listening to everybody say that her friend was so strong, and could make it through this was murder. The fact that her and Rae knew the truth about D pained her because she knew of no way to help. When she began to cry when telling the two men D's story, as she always did for some reason, she'd thought she'd be used to it by now, JC just cradled in his arms and calmed her. She felt safe there. Justin looked over at Britney. He felt a bit sorry for her. She'd been through everything with D, and taken on so much pain at such a young age. He had no idea how D must feel. He could never imagine being driven to suicide, no matter what happened, and he'd never had pinpointed D as someone that would either. And to have to hold all this inside of you. All the feelings of pain and loss. It was amazing that all 3 of them weren't nuts. He glanced back at Rae, who was on Nate's lap, asleep as well, Nate absently running his hand over her hair. She seemed just the same as anyone else. He looked back at the road, and realized they had arrived at the hospital the paramedics had told them about. He felt a cold hand on his arm.
"Tell no one," he thought he heard Britney whisper, but when he turned to question her, her arms were around JC's neck and her eyes were closed in sleep. He felt a case of the hebiegebies run up and down his spine, and his body convulsed. Suddenly, Rae laughed. He looked back at her, and she tried to straighten her face immediately.
"Watch this one," Brent told Rae. Justin got ready to yell at the guys to wake them up.
"I'm going solo, you guys suck," he shouted instead.
"What??" Joey asked, opening his eyes. Justin looked scared. He'd definitely NOT meant to say that. Rae laughed again, knowing Brent had caused him to say it.
"Obviously, Justin here has a very impressionable mind," Brent told Rae with a smile.
"I said, we're here?" Justin tried to cover up. "Get out of the truck."
"It's not a truck, it's a bus," Lance said, stretching.
"Oh, one more," Brent pleaded. Rae shook her head slightly, wide eyed.
"Just let him do it," Britney told her.

"What's that, hon?" JC asked. "Umm, Brit, she talks in her sleep," Rae quickly covered up for her friend.
"Jumbo popcorn," Brit suddenly said out of the blue. "Justin, you are white, yo momma is white, yo grandparents is white, why can't you figure it out?" Everybody burst out laughing.
"That's not funny," Justin mumbled.
"I will not eat them Sam I am," Britney continued. "JC is one fine fly mutha--"
"Okay, baby, time to wake up!" JC said quickly, shaking her. Brit pretended to slowly wake up, then stretched.
"Hmm, are we there?" Britney questioned, smiling at Rae.
"Um, ya, everybody out," Justin called. On the way into the hospital, Justin tripped over various invisible objects, as did Joey, and a car alarm went off, scaring the begeezes out of Lance. Each time, Rae giggled. She suddenly stopped for a moment, waved, then continued on.

Something caught Brent's attention from the corner of his eye. He turned to see Angel sitting on the roof of a car.
"It's time to come home," Angel said.
"Aww," Brent wined a bit.
"Oh, come on," Angel said. "Please? I don't want to get in trouble. Besides," she added, her face growing a bit red. "It's not as fun when you're not around." He smiled widely at this admission.
"There's hope for you yet," Brent commented, walking toward her. She got down from the roof, and walked beside him. He turned quickly and waved goodbye to Rae. He hoped he wouldn't have to see this gang for a long time. "So, what did I miss?" Brent questioned as they walked off into a sudden patch of fog and disappeared.
